Abstract(s)
The evolution of medicine as whole, including dentistry, has created a great demand for the creation of new materials that battle the difficulties felt in the post-surgery period, particularly the pain and the swelling felt by the patient. The main reason to use platelet concentrates is the increasing of the released grown factors, that in consequence will help improve the healing process. As a result of that need, new techniques for collection of platelet concentrate have been mastered, resulting in Leukocyte and Platelet Rich Fibrin (L-PRF). With the employment of this reduced difficulty of handling protocol, it is possible to observe a smoother post-surgery signs and symptoms and faster soft tissue healing combined with a reduced economical cost. Based on this need, through the revision of scientific literature, the goal of this work is to demonstrate and expose the benefits of the usage of L-PRF in dental alveoli following an extraction and also to compare it with other platelet concentrates and verify the benefits associated with its use.
