Abstract(s)
Terrorism of a radical Islamist matrix has become a major threat to the world today, not only by engaging in terrorist acts of extreme violence, but also as the main purpose of providing fear and terror for the world community. With their violence and their extremist ideals, these groups have a strong grip on the part of western individuals who, even if they have no connection to the Islamic religion, are easily recruited as promises of a better world under Sharia law. With the loss of territory in Iraq and Syria, the problem of the possible return of foreign fighters to their countries of origin arises, and their possible intentions for return, as well as the application of European and Portuguese legislative norms in the crime of Terrorism in several countries, and the risks and threats that this return entails. Throughout this investigation we intend to make known the global Jihadism, the whole history, as well as its most radical side from Jihad, the Portuguese fighters who left to fight for the Daesh, as we know the official number provided by the various institutions competent, of westerners who also left for war territory.
