Abstract(s)
A fundamental component of health, like physical and mental well-being, Oral Health (OH) has an extreme relevance in Military Health, which can compromise the fulfillment of military duties and consequently jeopardize the mission itself. Aware of this importance and with an imperative, operational and assistance need to guarantee the provision of OH care to the military, the Air Force (AF) has an installed response capacity in its Health Units (HU). In the restructuring of Military Health defined in the Referral Network of the Military Health System (RN-MHS), the OH care of the AF soldiers will be provided only at the Armed Forces Hospital and HU type III, not being considered their stay in the HU of AF. This investigation aims to assess the operational and logistical relevance of the existence of OH in the FA HU, presenting contributions to a possible restructuring of the current model, following an inductive reasoning methodology, a mixed investigation strategy and a case study research design. Data analysis allowed us to conclude that the installed capacity in the FA HU must be maintained, as it is imperative for the readiness of the military, presenting itself as an asset if integrated into the RN-MHS.
