Abstract(s)
É a família quem
atravessam.
enfermagem a prestar a estas crianças é a promoção do desenvolvimento.
Neste
Children are vulnerable and dependent, needing guidance in the promotion of their health, well-being and development. It is the family that appears as a reference and framework to guide and assist children in all phases of life transition, and it is the child-family binomial that pediatric nursing focuses on. During the nursing care, we find both child and family in the transitional processes of the life cycle, and it is imperative to direct intervention towards health needs and integrate the characteristics of the surrounding context as a whole in order to facilitate the transitions that they go through. Afaf Meleis' Theory of Transitions addresses the importance of monitoring all life transitions and that’s why this was the theoretical framework chosen for the practice of nursing care. Chronic illnesses in children, namely Chronic Kidney Disease, are potentiators of developmental alterations. This is more evident when there is the need of Peritoneal Dialysis, which is why one of the nursing focuses is to provided children the promotion of development. The following project reflects the formative course done in internship in relation to the development and acquisition of skills in the areas of both child and pediatric health, expanding on a thematic concept as the promotion of child development in children on peritoneal dialysis. Nursing interventions are optimized as an object of study in order to more adequately respond to the needs of both child and family, thus maximizing health and decentralizing them from chronic disease. After a first approach about central concepts, was made a reflective practice description, experiences and developed skills throughout this process. The nursing care provided was supported on the basis of pediatric care philosophies, namely Family-Centered Care and Non Traumatic Care.
