Toda a organização deve socorrer-se de um quadro teórico rico de modo a justificar politicamente as suas opções e, neste caso, garantir a qualidade da formação dos seus quadros superiores. Este estudo lança um diálogo entre a visão estratégica da Polícia de Segurança Pública e o substrato teórico que a fundamenta, considerando o regime de internato obrigatório no Curso de Formação de Oficiais de Polícia, ministrado pelo Instituto Superior de Ciências Policiais e Segurança Interna.
Esta investigação ocupa-se do espaço social específico gerado pelas instituições totais e disciplinares: o internato. Nessa medida, procura consolidar em conhecimento todo o potencial formativo dessa modalidade de ensino e compreender o funcionamento desse tipo de instituições. Assim, problematiza-se sobre a contribuição do internato na formação do oficial de polícia, interpretando o microcosmo institucional e descrevendo as suas dinâmicas.
Com base numa metodologia de natureza qualitativa, esta pesquisa aplicou dezoito entrevistas semiestruturadas a alunos que vivem em regime de internato, do primeiro ao quarto ano de formação. Posteriormente, procedeu-se ao tratamento dos dados recolhidos nas entrevistas por meio da análise temática. Dado o diferenciado contexto formativo proporcionado por uma academia policial, o internato supõe-se alinhado com os eixos de formação e o perfil de competências do oficial de polícia.
Any organization must rely on a sound theoretical framework in order to support its political options and, in this case, to ensure the quality of the senior staff’s training. This study launches a dialogue between the strategic vison of the Public Security Police and the theoretical background that sustains it, considering the regime of mandatory boarding school in the training for senior police officers, delivered by the Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security. This research deals with the specific social space generated by total and disciplinary institutions: the boarding school. In doing so, it seeks to know all the formative potential from this kind of education and to understand the activity of this type of institutions. Thus, it reflects on the contribution of the boarding school in the formation of the senior police officer as well as on the interpretation of the institutional microcosm and description of its dynamics. Based on a qualitative methodology, this research performed eighteen semi-structured interviews to students in the boarding school regime from the first to the fourth year. Subsequently, the data collected in the interviews was processed through thematic analysis. Given the different formative context provided by a police academy, the boarding school is supposed to be aligned with the training axes and the skills profile of the senior police officer.
