Abstract(s)
Nowadays the industrial landscape of organizations puts a high pressure on companies to become more competitive, responding to the volatility of markets and the growing demand from customers in terms of meeting requirements, deadlines and prices on the products they provide or the services they provide. This dissertation aims to propose a management model for workshop production companies (ETO Production Management Systems), which in the English literature are referred to as job-shop production systems, more specifically the companies that design and produce products to order, through the principles of Lean production and the facilities that technology offers. Concomitantly, the main challenges and problems will be characterized, the foundations of the Lean philosophy will be reviewed, the types of waste existing in this type of companies will be identified, the barriers that may exist in the implementation of this philosophy will be listed, and some of the main technological developments and paradigms pointed out within the scope of Industry 4.0. Through this investigation and from the analysis of some real cases will be proposed a management model and an approach to its implementation. In this sense, the definition of a management model and the requirements for its correct implementation will allow to identify the level of preparation of companies and the needs of new skills and other requirements. It is intended to sensitize the company to its needs and leadership processes so that the management model to be adopted keeps the team involved in the practice of continuous improvement and focused on meeting objectives, monitoring and auditing the processes that are implemented. The main result of this dissertation is the fact that the ETO Production Management Systems model proves to be a strong contribution both for the scientific community and for professionals who perform functions in companies with ETO industry, as it allows the resolution of existing problems within of an ETO company through the use of the most appropriate tools, methods or actions without the need to resort to different management models for a given objective.
