Abstract(s)
On the last decades, the phenomenon of violence associated to football has been gaining more relevance in several countries, including in Portugal. In this study, it was possible to verify that violence associated to football has increased in the last years. This increase is due to a set of obstacles and difficulties that do not allow the security forces and in particular the PSP to prevent the occurrence of violent actions by football fans. Through this study, the five major obstacles are the inexistence of banning orders to supporters with history of violence, the behavior of the members of non-legalized sides (claques), the behavior of the organized groups of supporters, the difficulty in detecting the authors of illicit crimes inside the stadiums and the problems of the searches for prevention and safety that take place in the entrance of the stadium.
