Grande parte das investigações sobre a profissão de guia-intérprete incidem maioritariamente sobre quais as funções e características, mas salvo raras exceções se procura perceber o impacto do guia na experiência turística, por esse motivo foi o tema escolhido para investigar. Investigar mais detalhadamente a importância do guia-intérprete na experiência turística, é um dos objetivos propostos.
O presente estudo apresenta uma caracterização geral das funções do guia-intérprete como profissional e, estende-se às suas competências/características pessoais que são inerentes para triunfar na profissão. Aborda também certos problemas da profissão e o quanto foi atingida pela pandemia covid-19.
Para a realização deste estudo, de forma a responder à questão inicial, adotou-se uma metodologia quantitativa, através da aplicação de um questionário de satisfação após a experiência de um walking tour pela cidade de Lisboa ou então após uma excursão por Portugal que contou com 944 respostas de turistas de várias nacionalidades.
Most of the research on the profession of the interpreter-guide focuses on the functions and characteristics of the interpreter-guide, but with few exceptions it tries to understand the impact of the guide on the tourist experience. One of the proposed objectives is to investigate in more detail the importance of the interpreter-guide in the tourist experience. The present study presents a general characterisation of the functions of the interpreter-guide as a professional and extends to the personal competences/characteristics that are inherent to succeed in the profession. It also addresses certain problems of the profession and how badly it has been hit by the covid-19 pandemic. For this study, to answer the initial question, a quantitative methodology was adopted, through the application of a satisfaction questionnaire after the experience of a walking tour through the city of Lisbon or after a tour through Portugal, which counted 944 answers from tourists of various nationalities.
