Os impactes das alterações climáticas nos destinos turísticos

Abstract(s)
Como todos sabemos as alterações climáticas têm-se tornado o tema da
atualidade. Por isso mesmo todos nós temos observado as consequências que
as mesmas têm tido na nossa vida quotidiana.
Segundo a União Europeia podemos considerar que as alterações climáticas
resultam do aquecimento global e “referem-se às variações dos padrões
meteorológicos de longo prazo na Terra, como a temperatura, os níveis do mar
e a precipitação” (Europeia, 2020).
As alterações climáticas têm mostrado o quão graves se estão a tornar nestes
últimos anos e já existem líderes mundiais a alertar que podemos estar a chegar
ao ponto de rutura, a partir do qual não poderemos retroceder porque será
demasiado tarde para tentar remediar a situação.
Apesar do turismo ser positivo para a maioria dos destinos e respetivos países,
também é verdade que acarreta efeitos negativos. O turismo de massas e a
poluição são dois efeitos que serão abordadas na dissertação.
Assim, o crescimento do turismo tem contribuído para ser um “dos setores que
mais contribui para as alterações climáticas, representando 8% do total de
emissões de CO2” (Serrão, 2019).
A metodologia desta investigação tem por base a procura de informação por
vários meios, como livros, revistas, documentos científicos, e websites, acedidos
através do google académico, b-on, entre outros. Foi efetuado um questionário
a várias pessoas para se tentar perceber como as alterações climáticas
impactam no turismo e nos turistas. Assim, nesta dissertação serão abordados
cinco casos de estudo, Veneza, os polos, os Alpes, os recifes de corais e a
floresta amazónica, com o objetivo de compreender como é que as alterações
climáticas estão de facto a prejudicar estes destinos.
Foi possível concluir que estamos a atingir um limite, próximo do irreversível,
considerando que existem inúmeras espécies de animais e plantas em extinção,
habitats que estão a perecer e todos os anos grande parte dos países esgota os
recursos naturais anuais muito antes do final do ano.
As we all know that climate change has become the topic of the present time. For this very reason, we have all seen the consequences that they have had in our daily lives. According to the European Union we can consider that climate change is “caused by global warming, climate change refers to variations in long-term weather patterns on Earth, such as temperature, sea levels and precipitation.” (Portal, 2020) Climate change has shown how serious it has become in recent years and we already have world leaders warning us that we may be reaching the breaking point where we can’t go back and then it will be too late to try to change the situation. Despite tourism being something positive for most countries, the truth is that with it many negative things start to appear. Mass tourism and pollution are two that will be addressed in the dissertation. Thus, despite the growth of tourism and the increasing number of passengers/tourists, “tourism is one of the sectors that most contributes to climate change, representing 8% of total CO2 emissions” (Serrão, 2019). The methodology used during this study is based on the search for information in various places such as books, magazines, scientific documents, websites, accessed through google academic, b-on, or other means. A questionnaire is also made to several people to try to understand how climate change impacts tourism and tourists as well. Thus, in this dissertation 5 case studies will be addressed, Venice, the poles, the European Alps, the coral reefs and the Amazon Forest, with the aim of realizing how climate change is actually harming them. This study made us realize that we are reaching a limit and that we may be close to an irreversible point, there are countless species of animals already on the verge of extinction, habitats that are dying, and every year most countries exhaust annual natural resources well before the end of the year.
