A cultura de segurança e a segurança do paciente, apesar de serem temas percebidos em tempos remotos, ganharam destaque no final do último século. Face a isso, considerou-se conhecer a cultura de segurança e implementar medidas para a sua melhoria.
Assim, o objetivo geral deste estudo foi identificar e aprimorar o conhecimento da equipe funcional de uma unidade de saúde usando como instrumento de coleta de dados o questionário HSOPSC e atividades educativas como principal estratégia. Houve melhora nítida em 6 das 12 dimensões pesquisadas, com ênfase na dimensão sobre expectativas do supervisor/chefe e as ações promotoras da segurança.
As atividades, que visaram melhorar o conhecimento da demanda inquirida, conseguiram proporcionar uma maior adesão de protocolos para prevenção e controle de eventos adversos evitáveis e estimular a prática assistencial segura.

Hence, it was considered to know the security culture and to implement measures to improve it.
