Abstract(s)
comprometimento organizacional.
Despite the conceptualization of commitment dating to 1960 and there are a large number of empirical studies, the study of commitments with different objects (foci or target) is recent and there are still no studies that address a relationship between different commitments, particularly in the military context. The present study identifies how member countries of the Portuguese Air Force (FA) moderate the relationship between commitment to the hierarchical superior and the organizational commitment. A sample, of convenience, made up of FA military personnel in a total of 364 participants belonging to the military categories of the military, officer, sergeant and corporal. The research is of quantitative nature, based on two scales and making use of models of structural equations. The results showed a unidimensionality of the commitment with the superior hierarchical, evidencing a determination of the construct about as affective and normative components of the organizational commitment. The results also allowed us to verify the existence of a moderating effect of the military category variable on a relationship between the constructs committed to the superior hierarchical and the organizational commitment.
