Abstract(s)
In an age where information is at a click distance dozens of people die for lack of information. After the forest fire of Pedrogão Grande, on June 17, 2017, to which no one was indifferent, we have the duty and the obligation to contribute in some way so that it will never happen again. We are all civil protection and therefore have the obligation to educate / reeducate, also, to Risk. This dissertation allows to validate some of the knowledge gained by common sense in information and sensitization to the senior population, gauging the effectiveness of the information that reaches them in the scope of risk and civil protection. The survey of 450 senior citizens from the municipality of Nisa and Vila Velha concluded that the lack of knowledge about the risks is transversal to gender, age and educational attainment. And that information is not coming to them, so it is urgent to change the paradigm and highlight the need for a new vision. The practical implementation of safe processes and habits can, regardless of their size, be a major challenge. We all know how hard it is to change mindsets. It is in a way to fill an identified need that arises the project “Today for you tomorrow for us”, which aspires to be of a national nature and whose main objective is to provide senior citizens with practical theoretical knowledge making them more resilient in disaster situations or emergency.
