Abstract(s)
A definição do tema partiu
pelas artes visuais.
This report, developed as part of the master’s degree in Pre-School Education at the Coimbra School of Education, presents an action research study carried out during educational practice in the 2023/2024 school year, in a public kindergarten, with a group of 21 children between the ages of 3 and 6. The aim of this study was to understand how the use of natural materials in visual arts activities can foster the development of children's creativity in a kindergarten setting. The theme was defined by observing the group's interests, especially in nature and the visual arts. This led to the project “Hands that create nature”, which consisted of four sessions: reading the story Esta Flor É Minha! by Alice Hemming (2023), a walk where the children drew pictures and collected natural materials, painting with these materials and creating a clay sculpture. Data was collected through participant observation, photographic and videographic recordings, audio recordings, interviews with the children and analysis of their graphic productions. Throughout the sessions, the children's creativity, autonomy, imagination and self-expression developed. It was found that integrating the natural environment into artistic practices promotes meaningful learning and strengthens the children's connection to the environment. This concludes the importance of regularly integrating these practices into the educational context, encouraging a more conscious and harmonious relationship with the world around them.
