Abstract(s)
Aplicadas as
escalas Family Assessment Device e World Health Organization Quality of Life-Bref.
Discussão: As famílias saudáveis parecem possuir competências
Conclusão: As novas políticas e
Introduction: Currently, as a result of population aging, the family can’t meet the needs of its members and consequently uses host institutions. However, the family should promote aging with quality of life. This study aimed to investigate the influence of family functioning on quality of life of the elderly in a host institution. Methodology: A quantitative study, described, correlational and cross. The population was 39 seniors without cognitive deficits in a host institution. To study the functionality of different members contacted 11 families, each family member corresponded to an element of the family of 11 seniors. Applied Family Assessment Device scales and World Health Organization Quality of Life-Bref. We used SPSS version 17, using descriptive statistics. Results: The seniors who perceive their families as healthy a larger number of dimensions had higher levels of quality of life. The seniors identified more family unhealthy dimensions unlike members of the family. Discussion: Healthy families seem to possess skills that provide a quality of life with aging. Aging causes changes in the family who are not experienced in the same way by all family members (Horta, Ferreira e Zhao 2010; Figueiredo et al. 2011). Conclusion: The new policies and projects should promote healthy families by promoting aging with quality of life, promoting health gains.
