Abstract(s)
Abstract:Even though indiscipline, violence, academic failure and school abandonment are not recent phenomenon, nowadays they constitute a dilemma in which schools find themselves confronted with. This phenomenon, which in many cases is a part of the educational process, disturbs students’ learning process and creates an environment of emotional and professional instability among the teaching staff. In consequence, teachers feel impotent, which leads to a lesser investment in their relationships with the students. The main theme developed in this project, which focuses on students’ indiscipline in the classroom, is a result of a work done in PES’s group. Its main objective was to build knowledge about this kind of reality in order to create an intervention that allows reducing indiscipline behaviors. The methodology used was the project work. When we arrived, we noticed that the tense atmosphere and some conflicts between teachers and students and among the students, were related to the occurrence of indiscipline behaviors (that were essentially of opposition and verbal abuse), so that is why we made an intervention with the group that was participating, seeking to reduce inappropriate behavior and develop a positive relational environment. We seek to identify indiscipline behaviors that occur in classrooms and characterize teachers and students insights about these issues. The information was collected through the use of techniques of direct observation, document analysis, informal conversations, group discussions and semistructured interviews, which then allowed the establishment of an action plan designed to seven sessions and integrated in a curricular project of the discipline “Cidadania”., and the realization of a workshop with teachers that would provide a space for reflection and sharing experiences on this subject.
