Abstract(s)
Introdução: A literacia em Saúde é um determinante da saúde que influencia comportamen-
tos de saúde e está fortemente associada a constrangimentos na utilização de cuidados de
saúde.
Objetivo: Promover a Literacia em Saúde nos comportamentos de procura, acesso e
utilização dos serviços de saúde de uma comunidade migrante.
Método: Desenvolvimento de projeto de intervenção comunitária baseado na Metodologia de
Planeamento em Saúde. Aplicou-se o Health Literacy Questionnaire, associado a uma carac-
terização sociodemográfica e de saúde que sustentou a elaboração do projeto. A intervenção
teve por base a capacitação de dinamizadores da comunidade.
Resultados: Verificaram-se baixos níveis de literacia em saúde e uma percentagem
significativa que nunca frequentou os cuidados de saúde em Portugal. A concretização das
atividades proporcionou a capacitação, aumento de conhecimentos e engajamento dos
dinamizadores.
Conclusões: Os dinamizadores foram um vetor importante para o empoderamento da comu-
nidade numa perspetiva de sustentabilidade da intervenção comunitária.

Introduction: Health Literacy is a health determinant that influences health behaviours and is strongly related with restraints in the health care use. Objective: Empower a migrant community in a neighbourhood in terms of searching, using and getting access to health care in Portugal. The intervention was based on the training of community leaders. Methods: Development of a community intervention project based on the Health Planning Methodology. The Health Literacy Questionnaire was applied, associated with a sociodemographic and health characterization that supported the elaboration of the project. The intervention was based on the training of community leaders. Results: There were low levels of health literacy and a significant percentage that never attended health care in Portugal. After implementing the activities, the leaders were capacitated, engaged and their knowledge were increased. Conclusions: The leaders were an important vector to community empowerment in view of sustainability of communitary intervention.
