| dc.description.abstract | Em todo caso de morte, deve-se determinar a causa e o modo, sendo este um dever do médico legista e das autoridades responsáveis pela aplicação da lei em todas as investigações de morte violentas e suspeitas. Há momentos em que evidências físicas e evidências encontradas na autópsia não revelam o modo, que são os casos de morte suspeita, que envolvem determinar se foi um acidente, homicídio, suicídio ou causas naturais. Pela sua natureza suspeita, muitas vezes os investigadores não conseguem determinar seu modo e, portanto, o estudo psicológico do caso pode ser uma ferramenta investigativa pós-mortem que auxilia nas conclusões do caso. A autópsia psicológica é uma construção retrospectiva da vida do falecido iniciada para obter uma melhor compreensão de sua morte com o objetivo de determinar a intenção psicológica da vítima e seu estado mental no momento do ocorrido, através de entrevistas e análise de documentos e cena do crime para reconstruir o comportamento, personalidade, estilo de vida, hábitos e história da vítima antes da morte. No entanto, sua participação ainda é muito limitada, tanto pela falta de profissionais quanto pela falta de estudos empíricos, que permitem um embasamento da literatura para o estudo de cada caso. Destarte, é apropriado considerar a autópsia psicológica como uma técnica relativamente desestruturada, porém com um futuro promissor no contexto da investigação criminal. Com este estudo é possível concluir que uma autópsia psicológica, quando acompanhada por uma autópsia médica e uma investigação minuciosa, realizada com métodos válidos, pode ser a evidência que une o caso. No entanto, por ser uma ferramenta de investigação bastante nova, ainda não possui capacidade técnica para ser utilizada como prova no tribunal, Assim, será importante aprofundar este estudo, para que no futuro possa ser uma prova válida. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | In every case of death, the cause and manner must be determined, and it is the duty of the coroner and law enforcement authorities to determine the manner of death in all violent and equivocal death investigations. There are times when physical evidence and evidence found at the autopsy does not reveal the manner of death, which are called equivocal death cases, which involves determining whether the death was an accident, homicide, suicide, or natural death. Because of their suspicious nature, investigators often fail to determine their manner and therefore the psychological study of the case may be a postmortem investigative tool that helps solving the case. The psychological autopsy is a retrospective reconstruction of the life of the deceased initiated to obtain a better understanding of their death in order to determine the psychological intention of the victim and their mental state at the time of death through interviews and document analysis and crime scene to reconstruct the victim's behavior, personality, lifestyle, habits and history before death. However, its participation is still very limited, both by the lack of professionals and by the lack of empirical studies, which allow a foundation of the literature for the study of each case. Thus, it is appropriate to consider the psychological autopsy as a relatively unstructured technique, but with a promising future in the context of criminal investigation. With this study it is possible to conclude that a psychological autopsy, when accompanied by a medical autopsy and a thorough investigation, performed with valid methods, may be the evidence that puts the pieces of the case together. However, because it is a new research tool, it does not have the technical capacity to be used as evidence in court.
