Abstract(s)
Ergonomics is the science that studies the relation between the Man and the work he performs with the purpose of promoting a perfect symbiosis between the labour conditions, the fisical and/or psicological limitations and capabilities of the worker. When applied successfully, Ergonomics ensures better productivity, prevents injuries and work related pathologies while increasing the efficiency of the professional. On the other hand, when not applied correctly, it can lead to work-related musculoskeletal injuries. During his professional activity, the Dentist, finds himself oftenly in incorrect work positions and inadequate postures under repetitive efforts that can later cause musculoskeletal pathologies that can later occur in chronic form. Some 29.5% of the dentists who quit their professional activity earlier than expected, do so due to musculoskeletal disorders (Anshul Gupta et al., 2014), which surpasses cardiovascular diseases (21.2%), tumors (7.6%) and pathologies of the nervous system (6.1%). The obective of this scientific work is to demonstrate to the Scientific Community and fellow Dentists the importance of Ergonomics as a way of optimization of clinical practise and profesisonal activity with less risks of work-related pathology.
