Abstract(s)
A validade
The aim of this study was to carry out a cross-cultural adaptation of the extended version of the Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI-X) for the French population, assessing its psychometric properties. The sample consisted of 470 participants with an average age of 31.16 years (SD = 13.50) and who had experienced a traumatic event. An exploratory factor analysis was carried out with a subgroup of 235 participants and a confirmatory factor analysis with the other 235 participants to validate the factor structure of the instrument, initially made up of five dimensions. In terms of reliability, Cronbach ‘s alpha values ranged from 0.80 for the Appreciation of Life subscale to 0.89 for New Possibilities, indicating good internal consistency. The composite reliability showed values between 0.64 and 0.76. The factor structure chosen remained at five factors in the sample, with most of the items showing factor weights above 0.50, which confirms their suitability for the proposed structure. In terms of convergent validity, the results of the average variance extracted were lower than recommended, with values between 0.25 and 0.37, suggesting the need for improvement, especially in the Spiritual Change dimension. Discriminant validity was also limited due to the high correlation between certain subscales, such as New Possibilities and Appreciation of Life. Although the PTGI-X showed good internal consistency, cultural adaptations are needed, especially in the spiritual dimension, to improve the validity of the instrument in the French population.
