Abstract(s)
Currently, we live in a globalized, technological world, where the competitive advantages of each company are increasingly threatened by a growing competitiveness concerning the markets where those companies operate. Daily we watch an increasing industrialization of society, which is characterized by a massive population increase worldwide and an increase of the quantity of products and services necessary to meet the needs of the population. There is also the increase of trade worldwide, which implies a constant movement of raw materials and finished products , al this so that the final customer fully satisfied with the quality, price and access to the product/service in concerned However, this increase of industrialization has brought us too many problems, being one of the most important related to environmental issues. We live in a time in which we are witnessing a growing concern in preserving the environment, trying to combine sustainable growth with the needed goods and services production, essential to our existence. In this way, as in any other area, these concerns are brought to the area of logistics, which tries through the adoption of new technologies and practices, minimize the outcome of enterprises, thus contributing to the much coveted sustainable growth. It is common today to try to adopt less polluting means of transport, with less energy consumption, recycling of materials, reuse and treatment of production outputs which are harmful to the environment, these are some examples of measures in which logistics can contribute to sustainability. In this context, the study of the contribution of logistics for environmental sustainability becomes an important element to understand what is being done at the logistical level, trying to identify concrete measures that could be good practice in the field of environmental sustainability.
