Abstract(s)
The Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) program is presented as an organizational strategy to help professionals involved in critical incidents. Its objective is the professional's quick and healthy return to his operational routine, minimizing the psychological impact of critical incidents and promoting the operational performance of these professionals. The present study seeks to characterize the main stress factors and critical incidents inherent to the performance of the Air Defense control function and aims to analyze the usefulness of implementing the CISM program on the ARS Monsanto Air Defense controllers. The research follows a deductive reasoning, based on a mixed analysis strategy and a case study research design. In terms of results it was found that the ARS Monsanto Air Defense controllers are exposed, during their professional activity, to stressful situations and events / incidents with potential traumatic effect, which directly affect their professional performance and indirectly the organizational context in which they are inserted. It was also found that the CISM program is a useful model to deal with such situations. It is therefore concluded, therefore, that it is useful and beneficial to implement the CISM program to the ARS Monsanto Air Defense controllers.
