Abstract(s)
esses, a independência total (44%) e a dependência ligeira (32%).
componentes física, mental e o score total do SF-36 (.443 rho .521, n=34, p<.014) e
entre o score total do Índice de Barthel e as componentes física, mental e o score total do
SF-36 (.462 rho .522, n=34, p<.010).
Background: Functionality and quality of life are indisputable focuses of rehabilitation nursing intervention. Their assessment is relevant in establishing the therapeutic plan and in measuring clients’ health gains. However, there is an insufficient characterization of these result indicators. Objectives: Determine the levels of functional dependence and quality of life of clients target of rehabilitation nursing care in community rehabilitation units of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, as well as analyze the relationship between these two variables. Methodology: A quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive-correlational study was carried out in community rehabilitation units of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, involving 34 participants. Levels of functional dependence and quality of life were assessed using the Barthel Index and SF-36, respectively, and the relationship between these variables was investigated using Spearman's correlation. Results: The prevalence of two levels of functional dependence was found, such as, total independence (44%) and mild dependence (32%). Low levels of quality of life were identified (M=377,3), perceived more negatively at the physical component (M=134). However, it was confirmed that there is a statistically significant relationship between these two variables, particularly translated by the positive and moderate-to-strong correlations, between the Barthel Index mobility domain and the physical, mental components and the total SF-36 score (.443 rho .521, n=34, p<.014) and between the total Barthel Index score and the physical, mental components and the total SF-36 score (.462 rho .522, n=34, p<.010). Conclusion: The findings suggest that the improvement in functional capacity is associated to better quality of life of the participants. Thus, the development of studies that make it possible to understand the impact on the quality of life of the gains resulting from the intervention of rehabilitation nursing with regard to functional independence, would be relevant in the improvement of its praxis.
