O líder é o maior influenciador do processo de mudança nas organizações, exercendo um
papel importante na construção de espaços que permitam e facilitem a discussão e o
questionamento dos grupos. Existem cada vez mais reflexões sobre a importância da liderança nas
organizações com o objetivo de otimizar a organização do trabalho, as metodologias, as
competências e, principalmente, a motivação dos colaboradores. De facto, uma liderança eficiente
pode levar a uma maior motivação, que por sua vez conduz a uma melhor performance e resultados
organizacionais.
Posto isto, o objetivo deste trabalho é perceber de que forma o estilo de liderança exercido
nalguns departamentos da Câmara Municipal de Elvas se relaciona com a motivação dos
colaboradores. Foram recolhidas 70 respostas ao questionário aplicado aos colaboradores do
município, as quais revelaram que a liderança atual é percebida como não sendo tão eficaz. Ainda,
a presença de características associadas a uma liderança eficaz idealizada contribuiu para o
aumento da sua motivação. Estes resultados permitem aferir sobre as características de liderança
e os aspetos motivacionais dos colaboradores aos quais os líderes da autarquia de Elvas deverão
atender, capacitando os agentes institucionais para a promoção da motivação no trabalho,
resultando em transformações organizacionais positivas.
The leader is the greatest influencer of the organizational change processes, playing an important role in building spaces that allow and facilitate discussion and questioning among groups. There is increasing reflection on the importance of leadership in organizations with the aim of optimizing work organization, methodologies, skills and, mainly, employee motivation. In fact, effective leadership can lead to greater motivation, which in turn leads to better organizational performance and results. Therefore, the objective of this work is to understand how the leadership style exercised in some departments of the Elvas City Council relates to employee motivation. A questionnaire was applied to municipal employees, with 70 responses collected, which revealed that the current leadership is perceived as not being so effective. Furthermore, the presence of characteristics associated with idealized effective leadership increased employee motivation. These results allow us to assess the leadership characteristics and motivational aspects of employees that the leaders of the Elvas city hall must meet, training institutional agents to promote motivation at work, resulting in positive organizational transformations
