Abstract(s)
O movimento do streetwear
This theoretical research aims to explore and contextualize Portuguese streetwear, seeking to distinguish how it differs from the global landscape. It aims to contextualize the emergence of the urban fashion movement, which has spread across the world and reached Portugal (albeit more recently). The streetwear movement has become a global phenomenon that has influenced contemporary fashion, opening doors to new consumption opportunities and new alternatives within the high-fashion industry. With regard to Portuguese streetwear, the research seeks to understand how it may possess its own identity, shaped by cultural, social, and local inspirations—impacted by the national market, Portuguese culture, and the unique “mindset” of Portuguese brands. By examining the characteristics of Portuguese urban fashion, the study aims to draw a logical parallel to what sets it apart from global streetwear. This study also examines the rise of Portuguese brands and the main fashion designers who contribute to the spread of Portuguese urban fashion. In this context, both quantitative and qualitative data were collected to support this scientific investigation, including a survey related to Portuguese urban fashion and a series of interviews with fashion designers. The main objective was to present reliable data and real-life cases that reflect the current state of Portuguese streetwear.
