anualmente.
In the past decades, the surf industry has lived one of the greatest developments in sports history, going from an almost extinct activity to one of the biggest sports in the planet, containing a large number of surfers and wave sports fans, that is growing every year. However, despite the rapid growth of interested individuals, 99% of the world does not surf, many of them due to external factors such as their geographical location or the fear of the ocean. With this, the goal of the present master’s project lies on the study of the population interested in wave sports, the understanding of their needs and projecting a final solution that answers these needs. In order to do that, an investigation methodology is planned with three different phases: benchmarking through case studies using interviews, a qualitative method through observation and a quantitative method using an online questionnaire. With the results obtained with the investigation methods, the final project proposition is created, a Surf Complex in Portugal, which consists of a place where the ocean is celebrated through the practice of wave sports, that are deepened by the passionate individuals and introduced to the curious individuals, through the execution of specialized classes and trainings inside and outside of the water.
