A presente dissertação foi desenvolvida no âmbito do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina
Veterinária, realizado pela autora, e baseou-se no estágio curricular realizado na empresa Avigan
Terralta, SA, em medicina produção de aves, mais especificamente, reprodutoras ligeiras, sob a
orientação do Professor Doutor Nuno Carolino.
Esta dissertação encontra-se dividida em duas partes. A primeira parte consiste na revisão
bibliográfica, abordando os temas da anatomia e fisiologia do sistema reprodutor feminino,
maneio de aves reprodutoras ligeiras, condições de incubação e eclosão, e características a
analisar durante o processo de incubação e momento de eclosão, os quais nos permitem inferir
sobre da qualidade dos pintos nascidos. A segunda parte está relacionada ao estudo realizado,
durante o período de estágio, onde se analisam as características relativas aos bandos de aves
e do centro de incubação, e em como podem estes influenciar os nascimentos.
This dissertation was developed in the context of the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine carried out by the author and was based on her curricular internship at the company Avigan Terralta, SA in poultry medicine, specifically in layers’ parent stock, under the supervision of Nuno Carolino, PhD. This dissertation is divided in two parts. The first part consists in a bibliographic review that focuses on the subjects of the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system, layers’ parent stock handling, incubation and hatching conditions and features to examine during the incubation and at hatching that will allow us to infer about the recently born chick’s quality. The second part refers to the study that was done during the internship where it was reviewed features regarding the flocks and the hatchery and how can them affect the hatchings.
