Abstract(s)
socioeconómicas e padrões do ciclo vital.
In the last few decades, families have suffered a serious of transformations, with changes in its structure, multicultural constitution, gender roles, social and economic conditions and life cycle patterns. It then becomes vital to understand the challenges each family faces and identify the processes that contribute to its welfare. In a systemic perspective, and considering the family as a social system where individuals coexist in permanent interaction, it is understandable that a crisis in one individual disrupts the family as a whole. Thus, the concept of family resilience emerges, as it allows to validate adversities through personal and relational development processes that enforce the structure and make it capable of coping with potentially stressful events. However, although the moments of crisis are realised as conducive to evolution and growth, it may also pose to a moment of pathologic risk, of difficulty or disturbance in the development, lacking professional and individualised support and follow up. Hence, in the light of Betty Neuman Theoretic Model, I have developed my intervention in the scope of promotion of family resilience for parents with children with language and/or socialization difficulties, integrating a co-therapist and a muti-family group in an outpatient clinic of a hospital within the region of Lisbon. Considering that resilience is a recent concept in Nursing, I have resorted to a quality project based on a case study method, setting as objectives the following: to know the stressor, protective and coping factors of each family, and to promote resilience in families whose children present language and/or socialization difficulties. As a conclusion, despite the limitations imposed by the current pandemic situation, I was able to perceive that the nursing intervention in multi-family groups is a family resilience promoter strategy. Sharing experiences and learnings in groups, allows families to enhance their capability of facing adversities, promoting their resilience.
