Abstract(s)
The transition to parenthood is an event of great impact in life that requires a restructuring of goals, behaviors, and responsibilities, covering itself with an intense emotionality. In the context of a COVID-19 pandemic, this emotionality can be more intense, especially when parents experience this transition in a hospitalization situation. Considering this problematic, it is particularly important that nurses try to implement interventions that promote parental emotional management, adopting strategies and intervention models that make it possible, which is the object of study of this work. The EEESIP, due to the extensive knowledge and the specific skills it has, plays a fundamental role in the management of emotions, contributing, through emotional work, to the transformation of negative emotions into states of emotional well-being, enabling parents to acquire a positive perception of the lived experience. This report represents the path taken in the different clinical contexts, reflecting the objectives and activities developed, with a view to acquiring a new body of competences. The methodology used was based on experiential learning anchored in critical reflection, grounded in theoretical-conceptual nursing models, scientific evidence, and research. The learning experience resulting from this process allowed us to respond to the general objectives established that aim to develop EEESIP skills in the various contexts of clinical practice; and, to develop EEESIP skills that promote the transition to parenthood in the context of a pandemic, thus contributing to a humanization of care and to the maximization of the health of children, young people, and families.
