A Sobrecarga do Cuidador Informal do Idoso Dependente e Alvo de Cuidados de Enfermagem de Reabilitação na Região Autónoma da Madeira: Um Estudo Transversal-Descritivo

| dc.description.abstract | ENQUADRAMENTO: As alterações demográficas da população mundial, têm como consequência uma sociedade cada vez mais envelhecida, com progressivo aumento de pessoas em situação de dependência domiciliar, e que necessitam de assistência de familiares para dar resposta às suas necessidades básicas. Neste contexto, emerge como foco de atenção o cuidador informal do idoso dependente. OBJETIVOS: Caraterizar o cuidador informal do idoso dependente alvo de cuidados de enfermagem de reabilitação na RAM e descrever os níveis de sobrecarga apresentados pelo cuidador informal da pessoa dependente, com recurso à Escala de Sobrecarga do Cuidador. DESENHO DO ESTUDO: Estudo quantitativo, transversal e descritivo. RESULTADOS: Dos 72 cuidadores informais inquiridos, 41 apresentaram sobrecarga intensa e 8 sobrecarga ligeira, o que perfaz uma amostra com uma sobrecarga total de 68,1%. A maioria dos participantes tinha mais de 50 anos (73,6%), com uma média de idade de 59,4 anos, eram do género feminino (70,8%), casados com o idoso dependente (63,9%), maioritariamente com o 1º ciclo do ensino básico (61,1%), a maior parte reformado ou inválido (38,9%), cônjuge ou filho(a) do idoso dependente (72,2%), e, em média, passavam mais de 12 horas a cuidar (43,1%), com os cuidados a se prolongar no tempo por mais de 3 anos (55,6%). CONCLUSÃO: O presente estudo confirma que os cuidadores informais estavam sobrecarregados e traça o seu perfil sociodemográfico. No futuro, devem ser delineadas e implementadas, por parte do EEER, estratégias que tenham em conta as características individuais dos cuidadores, no sentido de diminuir a sobrecarga dos mesmos. A intervenção do EEER deve passar pela caracterização e identificação das necessidades dos cuidadores informais para posteriormente planear intervenções individualizadas e dirigidas para a pessoa/ cuidador/ família, permitindo assim, melhorar a qualidade de vida do cuidador e influenciar positivamente a prestação de cuidados ao idoso. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | BACKGROUND: The demographic changes of the world population, result in an increasingly aging society, with a progressive increase in people in a situation of household dependency, and who need assistance from family members to respond to their most basic needs. In this context, the informal caregiver of the dependent elderly emerges as a focus of attention. OBJECTIVES: To characterize the informal caregiver of the dependent elderly, who is the target of rehabilitation nursing care in the RAM and to describe the levels of burden presented by the informal caregiver of the dependent person, using the Caregiver's Overload Scale. STUDY DESIGN: Quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study. RESULTS: Of the 72 informal caregivers surveyed, 41 had an intense burden and 8 a light burden, which makes up a sample with a total burden of 68.1%. Most participants are over 50 years old (73.6%) with an average age of 59.4 years old, are female (70.8%), married to the dependent elderly (63.9%), mostly with the 1st cycle of basic education (61.1%), mostly retired or disabled (38.9%), spouse or child of the dependent elderly (72.2%), and who, on average, spends more than 12 hours of care (43.1%) with care lasting more than 3 years (55.6%). CONCLUSION: The present study confirms that informal caregivers were overloaded and outlines their sociodemographic profile. In the future, strategies that take into account the individual characteristics of caregivers should be designed and implemented by the rehabilitation nurse, in order to reduce their burden. The intervention of the rehabilitation nurse must go through the characterization and identification of the needs of informal caregivers in order to subsequently plan individualized interventions aimed at the person / caregiver / family, thus improving the caregiver's quality of life and positively influencing the provision of care to the elderly. | pt_PT |
