Abstract(s)
A inteligência artificial, surge atualmente como uma tecnologia disruptora. Neste contexto a North Atlantic Treaty Organization teme pela primeira vez, desde a sua fundação, que pode ser ultrapassada por outros atores em tecnologias de aplicação militar. No domínio das informações militares a inteligência artificial, poderá ser um poderoso aliado, no entanto, ao contrário do que seria de esperar a sua integração neste âmbito ainda é reduzida. Neste sentido esta investigação, propõem-se em primeiro lugar, a caracterizar o que é o Geopolitical Situation Awareness, a qual se define como a exploração vantajosa da informação, permitindo a superioridade do conhecimento, através da integração de elementos de informação trabalhados de forma metodológica, tendo como objetivo final apoiar a tomada de decisão. Em segundo lugar, identificar as soluções baseadas em inteligência artificial, atualmente disponíveis no setor privado, passiveis de serem adaptadas ao ciclo de produção de informações, de modo a incrementar a eficiência na obtenção da Geopolitical Situation Awareness. Constata-se que existem efetivamente, algumas soluções que evidencia essa faculdade.
Para atingir o objetivo supra definido, a investigação, é baseada num raciocínio indutivo, apoiado numa análise documental, complementada por entrevistas a especialistas de reconhecida experiência na vertente das informações militares e da inteligência artificial. Abstract: Artificial intelligence is currently emerging as a disruptive technology. It is in this context that North Atlantic Treaty Organization fears, for the first time since its establishment, that it may be overtaken by other actors on the stage of military application technologies. In the field of military intelligence, artificial intelligence may be a powerful ally. Nevertheless, contrary to what one would expect, its integration in this scope is still limited. In this sense, the present research proposes, first of all, to characterize Geopolitical Situation Awareness, which is defined as the favorable exploitation of information, a concept that allows the superiority of knowledge through the integration of information elements that are processed methodologically and ultimately aims to support decision making. A second objective of this study is to identify solutions based on artificial intelligence, that are currently available in the private sector and that have the potential to be adapted to the intelligence cycle, in order to increase efficiency in reaching Geopolitical Situation Awareness. It is noted that there are indeed some solutions that demonstrate this ability.
In order to achieve its objective, the research is based on inductive reasoning, supported by documental analysis, and complemented by interviews with specialists of recognized experience in the field of military information and artificial intelligence.
