A elaboração deste
politraumatizada.
This internship report is part of the 1st Master's Course in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Nursing for People in Critical Situations, at the Escola Superior de Saúde da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa in Lisbon. The preparation of this report is based on a reflective, descriptive and critical methodology to portray the activities developed during Clinical Teaching. To develop the common skills of the Specialist Nurse and the specific skills of the Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the area of Nursing for people in critical situations, three Clinical Trainings are carried out. The first in a General Emergency Service, the second in an Intensive Medicine Service and the last in the Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle/Immediate Life Support Ambulances, in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, with a total duration of 616 hours. The specific objectives are to demonstrate skills in providing specialized care to people in critical situations and their family, and to develop skills in providing specialized Nursing care to people in critical situations, in particular to people who are victims of polytrauma. A scoping review on the topic “Applicability of the pelvic belt in adult victims of polytrauma” is included, with the aim of identifying the criteria, advantages, disadvantages, contraindications and the application technique of the different pelvic belts. It is concluded that, being a device still little used, there are some gaps in knowledge and incorrect practices, and it is up to the Specialist Nurse to promote the improvement of the quality of care provided to people in critical polytraumatized situations.
