Abstract(s)
local.
In the current context, organizations that operate in the third sector are faced with a number of challenges. Sport, and the organizations that develop activities in this area, do not escape or are not immune to the current problems to which they are subject, in an increasingly complex and competitive world, where the characteristics of their leaders may, at certain times, make the difference for other organizations. The reference to the new times and the importance of management and managers can be found, for example, in the book Gestão das Organizações (Carvalho, et. al., 2020), where it is stated that it is in the domain of a globalized society that management and its managers "play a crucial role", and they conclude by exposing that "it is essential for future managers to equip themselves with knowledge and tools that allow them to overcome the challenges" (Carvalho, et. al., 2020, p.27). In the current reality where the expression "increasingly global world" has definitely given way to the expression "global world", and as Mauborgne & Kim (2019, p.123) state, when referring to the next challenges for top managers, "the next question that arises is how to align the strategic planning process in order to focus on the global scenario and apply those ideas in the design of the strategic framework". Part of the results obtained by organizations comes from the way managers are influenced by their characteristics, and these have a greater impact when we talk about human resource management. As in the business sector, also in organizations that operate in the third sector, human resource management "plays an important role in creating competitive advantages" (Machado & Melo, 2020, p.51). If people are the organizations' greatest asset, it will be easy to affirm the importance of the organization's leaders, in this case, the CEOs, who play a key role in managing the human resources at their disposal. In the same way that Machado & Melo (2020) state that human resources management can be an important competitive factor for companies, they also state that the "informality" of the management of family organizations negatively affects the strategy adopted by organizations
