Navigating UX maturity: Exploring models, frameworks, and their personal impacts on designers

| dc.description.abstract | Navigating UX maturity requires understanding how organizational context shapes the daily work and well-being of UX designers. This thesis explores existing UX maturity models through a literature review and investigates designers’ personal experiences via surveys and interviews, merging theoretical insights with practical realities. This is the first study to examine UX maturity through the lens of designers’ personal experiences The findings highlight that UX maturity influences far more than process. In low-maturity environments, designers often feel undervalued, frustrated, and unclear about their roles. These are conditions that undermine well-being and motivation. In contrast, higher maturity fosters creative freedom, support, and a stronger sense of purpose. By revealing both broad trends and subjective experiences, the study shows that the value an organization places on UX directly shapes designers' satisfaction and growth. Advancing UX maturity, therefore, is not only a strategic decision but also a step toward building more resilient and fulfilling design cultures. | eng |
| dc.description.abstract | Navegar pela maturidade em UX é entender como o contexto organizacional impacta diretamente o dia a dia e o bem-estar dos designers. Esta tese parte de uma revisão bibliográfica sobre modelos de maturidade em UX e aprofunda o tema a partir das vivências de profissionais da área, reunindo tanto perspectivas teóricas quanto experiências práticas. Este é o primeiro estudo a analisar a maturidade de UX pela ótica pessoal dos designers. Os resultados mostram que a maturidade em UX vai muito além dos processos. Em ambientes com baixa maturidade, é comum que designers se sintam desvalorizados, frustrados e inseguros quanto ao seu papel. Estes fatores afetam diretamente sua motivação e bem-estar. Por outro lado, contextos mais maduros tendem a oferecer mais apoio, liberdade criativa e um senso de propósito mais claro. Ao reunir padrões e relatos pessoais, este estudo evidencia como o valor que uma organização atribui à UX influencia diretamente a satisfação e o desenvolvimento de quem trabalha com design. Evoluir em maturidade, portanto, não é só uma decisão estratégica é um caminho para construir culturas de design mais humanas e resilientes. | por |
