This report is part of the Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Nursing at the Escola Superior de Enfermagem do Porto, part of the curricular unit “Professional Internship with Report – Module II” and aims to highlight the process of developing the common skills of the Specialist Nurse and the specific skills of the Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing in the different internship contexts. In this sense, this work emerges in a logic of continuity and articulation with the project previously defined in module I, in which it was decided to invest in the mastery of fine motor function, with the purpose of developing specialized skills for clinical decision-making in rehabilitation nursing in this area of activity. Given the importance of carrying out activities of daily living, it becomes crucial to assess hand function. The inability to carry out these activities causes dependence, emotional changes and depression, culminating in a reduction in the person's quality of life. Given this commitment, the contribution of the Nurse Specialist in Rehabilitation Nursing appears to be fundamental, whose intervention aims to promote the improvement of quality of life, ensuring an adequate level of independence and functionality. In this context, the preservation of fine motor function assumes particular relevance. Following the aforementioned, in the first part of this report, the internship contexts are described. The theoretical framework follows, which addresses the pathological process resulting from the selected case and the intervention of the Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing, with special emphasis on the mastery of fine motor function. Subsequently, the conception of care in relation to the clinical case is presented. Furthermore, it reflects on the development of common and specialized skills throughout the clinical component. Finally, the report culminates with a final summary, integrating the main lessons learned. The methodology used is descriptive and critically reflective, supported by scientific evidence, based on bibliographic research in books, periodicals, in the MEDLINE Complete, CINAHL Complete, SCOPUS, PubMed databases and in the supporting documents of the classes.
