Portugal tem-se destacado como um destino competitivo e como um país que oferece
conjunturas para uma expansão sustentável do turismo. A região do Alentejo revela grande
diversidade de atrativos autênticos que a tornam potencialmente competitiva, no entanto, o
Baixo Alentejo carece de divulgação e promoção como destino turístico.
A presente dissertação pretende apresentar o potencial das estratégias de
desenvolvimento turístico no concelho de Serpa, pela entidade pública, Câmara Municipal de
Serpa.
Desta forma, fez-se uma análise interna e externa relativa à Câmara Municipal de
Serpa que derivou na identificação de estratégias de desenvolvimento turístico presentes e
outras possíveis de implementar, com o intuito de aumentar a oferta turística, ganhar
posicionamento no mercado, captar novos públicos-alvo, combater a sazonalidade e divulgar
o potencial turístico do concelho de Serpa.
Para se obter dados imprescindíveis a esta investigação, conseguiu-se documentação
interna e projetos oficiais facultados pela CMS.
Consequentemente, definiram-se propostas estratégicas de desenvolvimento turístico
para dinamizar e desenvolver o concelho, e para que a instituição possa continuar o seu trabalho
com sucesso, atingindo os melhores resultados.
Portugal has stood out as a competitive destination and as a country that offers conjunctures for a sustainable expansion of tourism. The Alentejo region reveals great diversity of authentic attractions, that make it potentially competitive, however, the Baixo Alentejo region needs to be publicized and promoted as a tourist destination. This dissertation intends to present the potential of the strategies of tourist development in the county of Serpa, by the public entity, Câmara Municipal de Serpa. In this way, an internal and external analysis of the Municipality of Serpa was carried out, which resulted in the identification of tourist development strategies already present and others possible to implement, with the purpose of increasing tourism offers, gaining market positioning, attracting new audiences to combat seasonality and to publicize the tourist potential of the municipality of Serpa. To obtain data essential to this investigation, internal documentation and information on official projects provided by CMS were obtained. Consequently, strategic proposals for tourism development were defined to boost and develop the municipality, and for the institution to continue its work successfully, achieving the best results.
