Abstract(s)
This study, included in the final report of the Masters degree in Preschool Education at the Coimbra Higher School of Education, aimed to understand the perspectives of families and the Kindergarten Teacher regarding Sexuality Education for Kindergarten children. This is an exploratory study, essentially qualitative in nature, with a mixed approach, using two questionnaires as data collection instruments, one addressed to families of children between 4 and 5 years old, and the other to the Kindergarten Teacher responsible for the group. The data was collected in digital format and analyzed using content analysis and simple descriptive analysis. The results revealed that most families consider it important to address Sexuality from childhood, highlighting children's natural curiosity, preventing abuse and developing values such as respect. However, the Kindergarten Teacher showed some resistance to approaching the topic in this age group, claiming a lack of training and considering it inadequate. It is concluded that there is a more open vision on the part of families, although conditioned by cultural and educational factors, and a limitation in pedagogical practice, influenced by gaps in professional training and the absence of clear institutional guidance. The study highlights the need for more effective coordination between kindergarten and family and the urgency of continuing education for education professionals in the field of Sexuality Education.
