Esta dissertação subordinada ao tema: “Perceções dos Jovens em Acolhimento Residencial e Ex-Acolhidos sobre a Inserção Profissional e a Vida Ativa: Desafios e Oportunidades” tem como objetivo analisar as perceções dos jovens em acolhimento residencial e dos jovens ex-acolhidos relativamente à sua inserção profissional e à transição para a vida ativa, procurando identificar os principais desafios e oportunidades que enfrentam ao longo deste processo. O estudo adota uma abordagem mista, de caráter descritivo e exploratório, baseado na aplicação de inquéritos por questionário com perguntas fechadas e abertas a jovens acolhidos e ex-acolhidos. Esta opção
metodológica possibilitou a recolha e triangulação de dados quantitativos, obtidos através de respostas estruturadas em escalas de concordância, e de dados qualitativos, provenientes de respostas. Os resultados evidenciam que persistem lacunas significativas no domínio da autonomia e da preparação para a vida ativa, bem como a necessidade de um acompanhamento
sistemático (follow up) após a saída das instituições de acolhimento. Embora se trate de um estudo exploratório e não representativo, a amostra constituída por 20 jovens (10 acolhidos e 10 ex-acolhidos) permite obter uma visão sobre as trajetórias e dificuldades
vivenciadas por parte dos jovens acolhidos e ex-acolhidos.
This dissertation aims to analyze the perceptions of young people in residential care and former care recipients regarding their professional integration and transition to active life, seeking to identify the main challenges and opportunities they face throughout this process. The study adopts a mixed-method approach, both descriptive and exploratory in nature, based on the application of surveys with closed and open-ended questions to young people currently or formerly in care. This methodological choice allowed for the collection and triangulation of quantitative data obtained through structured responses on agreement scales and qualitative data, derived from open-ended answers reflecting perceptions, feelings, and personal experiences. The results highlight that significant gaps persist in the domains of autonomy and preparation for independent living, as well as the need for systematic follow-up after leaving care institutions. Although this is an exploratory and non-representative study, the sample of 20 young people (10 currently in care and 10 formerly in care) provides insight into the trajectories and difficulties experienced by young people in residential care.
