A presente dissertação teve como objetivo validar e aferir a fiabilidade do Circuito
Operacional de Ordem Pública (COOP), concebido para avaliar a aptidão física
ocupacional dos operacionais do Corpo de Intervenção (CI) da Polícia de Segurança
Pública (PSP). O trabalho dividiu-se em dois estudos complementares. O Estudo I
consistiu numa revisão sistemática de 19 estudos internacionais que aplicaram um
circuito de aptidão física ocupacional (CApFO) a forças de segurança, revelando uma
grande diversidade de tarefas, mas também a necessidade de padronização e validação
formal desses testes. O Estudo II teve natureza empírica, contando com uma amostra de
31 operacionais do CI que realizaram o COOP em duas ocasiões. Foram recolhidos dados
antropométricos, fisiológicos e de desempenho, complementados por testes de aptidão
física geral. Os resultados demonstraram que o COOP apresenta boa fiabilidade teste reteste (ICC = 0.821) e validade de conteúdo, de construto e preditiva. Adicionalmente,
identificaram-se preditores relevantes do desempenho no circuito, explicando 82.2% da
sua variância. Conclui-se que o COOP é um instrumento válido, fiável e
operacionalmente representativo, com potencial aplicação na avaliação, prescrição e
monitorização da aptidão física dos agentes do CI.
This dissertation aimed to validate and assess the reliability of the “Circuito Operacional de Ordem Pública” (COOP), designed to evaluate the occupational physical fitness of intervention officers from the Public Security Police (PSP) in Portugal. The work was divided into two complementary studies. Study I consisted of a systematic review of 19 international studies that applied job-task simulation tests to security forces. The review revealed a wide variety of tasks but also highlighted the need for standardization and formal validation of such tests. Study II had an empirical design and involved a sample of 31 male officers from the Intervention Unit, who completed the COOP test on two separate occasions. Anthropometric, physiological, and performance data were collected, along with general physical fitness tests. The results demonstrated that the COOP showed good test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.821) and strong content, construct, and predictive validity. Furthermore, key predictors of circuit performance were identified, explaining 82.2% of its variance. It is concluded that the COOP is a valid, reliable, and operationally representative tool, with practical applicability in assessing, prescribing, and monitoring the occupational fitness of PSP intervention officers.
