Abstract(s)
Background: Rehabilitation nursing, as a multidisciplinary discipline, encompasses a specific set of knowledge and techniques that aim to support people with acute, chronic or sequelae diseases to achieve their maximum functionality, independence and autonomy. In this context, rehabilitation nurses must focus their work on promoting meaningful learning and providing adaptive strategies to promote people's independence in their activities of daily living, effectively enabling them to self-care. Objective: To describe how the common and specific competences of nurses specialising in rehabilitation nursing and masters in the care of people with dependente neurological disorders and self-care deficits were acquired. Develop a diagnostic assessment of the person with neurological disorders and self-care deficits. Plan rehabilitation nursing intervention programmes, according to the area of intervention, for the person with neurological disorders, focusing on self-care needs; identify the health gains sensitive to rehabilitation nursing care for people with neurological disorders based on the self-care intervention model developed. Methodology: The Rehabilitation Nursing intervention proposal implemented in this project was based on Robert Yin's (2018) qualitative methodology, Lopes' (2006) middle-range theory and Fonseca's (2013) model, which was based on Orem's (2001) self-care deficit theory. Results: After analysing the data, an overall improvement was seen in all participants, with significant gains in empowering dependent people in self-care. Conclusions: The implementation of this Rehabilitation Nursing intervention project for people with neurological disorders, who are dependent on self-care, demonstrated gains that are sensitive to Rehabilitation Nursing care. The completion of this report made it possible to demonstrate the acquisition of the common and specific competences of a specialist rehabilitation nurse, as well as the competences of a master in nursing.
