O desgaste das estruturas dentárias antagonistas de diversos sistemas de restauração cerâmicas, tem vindo a suscitar uma grande preocupação na comunidade científica. Na Medicina Dentária, esta questão é classificada como sendo de alta complexidade e a negligência na sua prevenção traz consequências que podem colocar em causa a integridade do sistema estomatognático dos pacientes. Por este motivo, é necessário o
aprofundamento da investigação científica nesta área. Atualmente, o clínico tem à sua disposição materiais como por exemplo: cerâmicas vítreas, resinas compostas nanoparticuladas, e zircónia, mais desenvolvidos em relação às suas características biomecânicas que resultam em materiais cada vez mais semelhantes em comportamento aos tecidos naturais dos dentes.
Ainda assim, existe uma diferença de comportamento e diferenças nos parâmetros de testes de desgaste, resultando em grandes dificuldades na obtenção de dados in vivo, que com a predominância de dados relativos a testes in vitro, são um desafio na procura de respostas que possam oferecer ao Médico Dentista maior segurança para um bom planeamento em reabilitação oral.
O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão narrativa, com recurso à literatura mais atual, sobre o desgaste dentário (atrição) provocado por diferentes materiais cerâmicos em dentes antagonistas.
Esta revisão narrativa foi realizada recorrendo aos motores de busca PubMed, B-on, Scielo, Google Scholar e Cochrane.
The wear of antagonist dental structures of various ceramic restoration systems has been a major concern in the scientific community. In Dentistry, this issue is classified as being of high complexity and negligence, since the lack of prevention can affect the integrity of the stomatognathic system of patients. For this reason, deepening of scientific research in this area is highly needed. Currently, the clinician has at his disposal several ceramic rehabilitation materials such as: vitreous ceramics, nanoparticle composite resins, and zirconia. Some of these materials are more developed in relation to their biomechanical characteristics, which results in materials increasingly similar in behavior to natural teeth. Still, there is a difference in behavior and differences in the parameters of wear tests that result in great difficulties in obtaining in vivo data. The predominance of data related to in vitro tests is a challenge in the search for answers that can offer the Dentist greater safety for good planning in oral rehabilitation. The objective of this work was to perform a narrative review, using the most current literature, on tooth wear (attrition) caused by different ceramic materials in antagonist teeth. This narrative review was carried out using the search engines PubMed, B-on, Scielo, Google Scholar and Cochrane.
