dc.description.abstractNeste trabalho estudamos os Veículos Aéreos Não Tripulados (VANT), começando pela sua história e o seu desenvolvimento para se tornarem em ferramentas de tecnologia com diversas aplicações ao nível da segurança pública. Aprofundamos as suas diversas definições e siglas utilizadas por instituições de vários países contrapondo e analisando o seu significado. Os VANT são relativamente diferentes dos veículos aéreos tripulados, no entanto podem possuir um tamanho semelhante ou apenas alguns centímetros de comprimento. O veículo propriamente dito não é o único componente de um sistema de VANT e por isso abordaremos nesta dissertação todos os subsistemas, que apesar de não se destacarem directamente representam um valor imensurável à realização e ao sucesso de uma determinada missão. Analisamos as vantagens e as desvantagens que este tipo de tecnologia traz ao público civil, instituições públicas e em específico à Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP). Observamos as escolhas efectuadas pela polícia dos Estados Unidos, potência a nível mundial em termos de VANT, e pela polícia do Reino Unido, devido ao seu desenvolvimento legal e adaptação aos VANT. Estudamos, por fim, os VANT em uso na PSP e avaliamos a sua configuração comparando-a ao nível do seu empenho operacional com outros tipos de configurações possíveis.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractIn this work we study Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), beginning with their history and their development to become tools of technology with diverse applications on the law enforcement level. We deepen their diverse definitions and acronyms used by institutions of various countries contrasting and analyzing its significance. As UAV are relatively different from manned aircraft systems, they can have similar size or just a few centimeters long. The vehicle itself is not the only component of an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) and so we discuss in this paper all the subsystems that despite not excel directly, represent an immeasurable value to the completion and success of a specific mission. We analyze the advantages and disadvantages that this type of technology brings to civil public, institutions and in particular to the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP). We observed the choices made by the United States police, world potency in terms of UAS, and the United Kingdom police, reflecting their legislative development and adaptation to the UAV. Finally, we study the UAV usage on PSP and evaluate it’s configuration by comparing it with another types of possible configurations on the level of its operational application.pt_PT
