Abstract(s)
presente projeto, intitulado “Uma Conversa Entre Gerações – Contributo
ambas as gerações.
This project, entitled "A Conversation Between Generations – Contribution of Intergenerational Programs", aims to promote dialogue and coexistence between different generations, based on the following axes: Education and Leisure, Lifelong Education and Local Development. This is an action research study carried out at an IPSS, in Ourém. Participants were 14 children, aged between 2 and 3 years, and 18 elderly people aged 65 years or older, institutionalized and with autonomy. The sample was selected by convenience, based on the recommendation of the technical director. The methodology adopted was qualitative and quantitative, including direct observation and the application of questionnaires to the elderly and the children's guardians. During the activities, the enthusiasm and interaction of the participants was observed. At the end of each activity, general feedback on the experiences was requested. The questionnaires revealed positive results, according to the participants' answers, showing that both groups (children and elderly people) had fun and showed enthusiasm in the activities carried out. Although the children were easily distracted, they behaved appropriately. Among older people, those over 85 interacted more and showed more willingness to participate than those under 85. The conclusions indicate that intergenerational programs contribute significantly to creating and strengthening bonds of fraternity, providing moments of leisure and sharing between different generations. These conclusions were confirmed both by the positive responses to the questionnaires of the children and the elderly, as well as by participatory observation, evidenced by the laughter and lively conversations among the group members. In short, the project "A Conversation Between Generations – Contribution of Intergenerational Programs", proved to be effective in promoting dialogue, sharing experiences and creating bonds between the youngest and the oldest, mutually benefiting both generations.
