A experiência turística está relacionada com vivências, sentimentos e sensações, sendo por isso de carácter subjetivo e pessoal. Esta ocorre quando existe uma interação entre o consumidor e o ambiente, gerando impressões memoráveis. Cascais, devido à sua localização, clima, diversidade de recursos e políticas desenvolvidas, tem características excecionais que propiciam a vivência de experiências únicas e memoráveis.
A investigação avaliou a importância da experiência turística em Cascais, como elemento diferenciador na imagem do destino, valorizando as práticas autênticas, inovadoras e personalizadas. O principal objetivo da dissertação consistiu na identificação e conceção de estratégias de desenvolvimento turístico que fomentem a vivência de experiências memoráveis no destino.
O estudo foi sustentado por uma investigação bibliográfica, por uma caracterização da região e análise dos seus principais pontos fortes, fracos, oportunidades e ameaças, e pela realização de entrevistas às várias entidades que trabalham no setor do turismo na região de Cascais.
A experiência turística tem certamente um impacto importante no desenvolvimento turístico de Cascais e a sua relevância é o ponto de partida desta investigação. A diferenciação do turismo na região deverá estar assente na personalização dos serviços e na cocriação de produtos turísticos, a fim de se desenvolverem outros segmentos de mercado e promover Cascais como destino único e de excelência. Embora existam certas fragilidades a nível turístico e um caminho a percorrer para se alcançarem os objetivos desejados, verifica-se uma maior consciencialização neste sentido e uma procura pela autenticidade e diversidade de produtos. O conhecimento do perfil do turista, a diversificação da oferta e uma aposta na sustentabilidade representam algumas das estratégias a desenvolver no território.
The tourist experience is related to experiences, feelings, and sensations; therefore, it is subjective and personal. It occurs when there is an interaction between the consumer and the environment, creating memorable impressions. Cascais, due to its location, climate, diversity of resources and government measures, has exceptional characteristics that provide unique and memorable experiences. This investigation evaluate the importance of the tourist experience in Cascais, as a differentiating element in the destination’s image, valuing authentic, innovative and personalized practices. The main purpose of the investigation consisted in the identification and conception of tourism development strategies that encourage memorable experiences in the destination. The study was supported by bibliographic research, by characterizing the region and analysing its main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and by conducting interviews with several entities that work in the tourism sector in Cascais area. The tourist experience certainly has an important impact on the tourism development of Cascais and its relevance is the starting point of this investigation. The differentiation of tourism in the area should be supported on service personalization and cocreation of touristic products, to develop other market sectors and promote Cascais as a unique and world-class destination. Although there are certain weaknesses in Cascais’ tourism and a path to achieve the desired goals, there is a greater awareness to the topics above and a search for authenticity and diversity of products. Knowing the tourist profile, having this diversity and a tourism based on sustainability represent some of the strategies to develop in the region.
