Abstract(s)
This study aimed to understand why some employees of the District Command of Portalegre were infected with COVID-19 disease, despite the measures implemented by the Public Security Police and the recommendations of the Directorate-General of Health, and also whether this infection had any impact on their family and professional life. The first phase of the study sought to provide a brief theoretical framework on the disease COVID-19 and the concepts of work and family. In the second phase (empirical part) we used the quantitative method, having applied a questionnaire survey to the employees who had contracted the disease, and the results were analysed and discussed The results allowed us to conclude that the preventive measures disseminated by official entities and the Public Security Police were known to the staff and were mostly adopted by them. However, they were not enough to prevent some of them from testing positive and even being infected during their service and by other police officers. We can also conclude that the disease did not result in significant changes to the family and professional life of those infected.
