Abstract(s)
This investigation arises from a desire to make music accessible to everyone, including those who do not hear it. Knowing the remarkable work of Amber Galloway-Gallego in the area of interpreting songs in Sign Language, the inclusive potential of having an interpreter in live music concerts was studied. To answer the challenge of designing an inclusive concert environment for the Portuguese Deaf Community, a sample of the Community was questioned and interpreters with experience in interpreting songs in Portuguese Sign Language were interviewed. Some hypotheses of inclusion of the interpreter in the context of the show are considered and suggested ways of validating the hypotheses.
