Abstract(s)
O aumento da complexidade no trabalho conduziu a novas estratégias por parte das organizações, nomeadamente na constituição de equipas de trabalho / projeto em contextos de emergência. Por este motivo é fundamental colocar em prática uma liderança que seja eficaz e que permita motivar equipas para que se possa cumprir a missão e os objetivos definidos.
Esta investigação tem como objetivo compreender qual a influência da liderança transacional e transformacional no work engagement e na segurança psicológica no setor dos bombeiros, contribuindo assim para expandir a literatura sobre liderança. Para tal foi utilizada uma metodologia quantitativa, recorrendo a um questionário realizado em quatro organizações de bombeiros. Obtivemos uma amostra de 162 colaboradores.
Os resultados obtidos confirmam duas das quatro hipóteses formuladas, evidenciando que a liderança transformacional influencia de forma positiva o engagement e a segurança psicológica dos bombeiros. Contrariamente ao esperado, a liderança transacional não mostrou influenciar de forma significativa o engagement e a segurança psicológica destes profissionais.
Esta investigação contribui para a literatura ao demonstrar o importante papel da liderança transformacional no work engagement e na segurança psicológica. Por fim, são propostas medidas que contribuem para o desenvolvimento de competências de liderança transformacional, importantes na formação de futuros líderes.
The increase in the complexity of work has led to new strategies on behalf of organizations, namely in the constitution of work teams in emergency contexts. As such, it is essential to put into practice an efficient leadership, capable of motivating their teams into meeting their defined goals and mission. This investigation's main goal is to understand how transactional and transformational leaderships influence firefighters' work engagement and psychological safety towards their job. These parameters were analyzed using a quantitative methodology, recurring to a questionnaire carried out within four different firefighter's organizations. The sample obtained a total of 162 collaborators. Obtained results confirmed two out of the four designed hypotheses, evidencing transformational leadership's positive outcome on firefighters' work engagement and psychological safety. Opposing the expected, transactional leadership has not shown any relevant influence on the aforementioned. By demonstrating the value of transformational leadership towards work engagement and psychological safety, this investigation seeks to become a major contribution towards the expansion of leadership literature. Ultimately, proposed measures contribute towards the development of transformational leadership skills, relevant in the establishment of future leaders
