Abstract(s)
Abstract: This research report has two main objectives: 1) to contribute to the cultural adaptation of the Baecke Questionnaire through the study of its psychometric properties in a sample of individuals with chronic low back pain (CLBP), 2) characterize the level of physical activity of CLBP individuals and analyze its relationship with kinesiophobia and disability. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study with a non-randomized sample of participants with CLBP (n= 108) who met the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Participants were assessed on two occasions with an interval of 4 to 7 days. Psychometric properties of Baecke evaluated were reliability (internal consistency and test-retest reliability) and construct validity. Later, it was characterized the level of physical activity and it was analyzed its relationship with disability and kinesiophobia. Results: In this to study, the psychometric properties of the Baecke questionnaire show a weak internal consistency for the Baecke total score (? = 0.387) and for its index (?work = 0.163; ?sports = 0.676; ?leisure = 0.367). The results demostrate a high test-retest reliability (CCItotal = 0.853; CCIwork = 0.925; CCIsports = 0.858; CCIleisure = 0.660). According to the results for the construct validity, there was a weak non-significant positive correlation between the Baecke questionnaire and the IPAQ (Rs = 0.205, p = 0.078). Regarding the second study, the results show a weak non-significant negative association between kinesiophobia and the level of physical activity (Rs = -0.051, p = 0.602) and the same was found between the level physical activity and disability (Rs = -0.043, p = 0.658). On the other hand, the relationship between disability and kinesiophobia showed a weak but significant and positive association (Rs = 0.256, p = 0.007). Discussion and Conclusions: Despite the limitations found on construct validity and internal consistency, the Baecke questionnaire is a questionnaire with a good test-retest reliability for this sample of CLBP patients. In the sample there was not confirmed the relationships postulated in the fear-avoidance model, particularly the association between the level of kinesiophobia and habitual physical activity and between physical activity and self-reported disability. The results confirmed, however, that, in this sample, higher levels of kinesiophobia indicate higher levels of disability.
