Abstract(s)
The presente research report called “The importance of Artistic Expressions in Primary School, from an interdisciplinary approach” was prepared within the Master’s degree in Pre-School Education and Primary School Teaching, in order to understand the impact that artistic education has and how it influences the teaching-learning process. Thus, the purpose of this work is to understand how artistic expressions are relevant in children's learning, and how interdisciplinarity influences the development of their skills. Nowadays, it is necessary to adopt diversified strategies that are innovative for the teaching and learning of students. Art emerges as an important factor in this increasingly needed innovation in the education system. Because it is something so versatile, it allows students to feel motivated to explore not only artistic components, but also components from others subjects. The teacher's role is fundamental for the development of the most varied abilities in children, and it is important that it has an encouraging and motivating character, to motivate them to explore more materials and strategies, and to think "outside the box", leaving the comfort zone. This study, shown throughout this report, follows a qualitative methodology, with data collected through an internship in the context of the 4th year of Primary School, observing various moments, created with the purpose of analysing the problem, and through an interview with a selected group of students in the class. In conclusion, the analysis of this theme showed the significant advantages that artistic education has in the teaching-learning process, and that the fact of interconnecting with other areas, through the interdisciplinary approach, increases, even more, the motivation and, consequently, improves the results.
