Abstract(s)
O tema da liderança assume cada vez mais um papel fulcral, nas organizações
bastante hierarquizadas como é o caso das Forças Armadas. Nesse sentido os militares
exercendo cargos de comando integram cada vez mais, de forma inata ou adquirida, os
conceitos e técnicas de liderança. A estes militares, é-lhes atribuída legalmente a faculdade
da competência disciplinar, que tem a sua principal materialização na atribuição de
recompensas e aplicação de penas (castigos).
Atendendo a estes dois conceitos (liderança e competência disciplinar), o presente
estudo exploratório, seguindo uma metodologia quantitativa teve como objetivo abordar a
forma como se relacionam e avaliar como interagem.
Optando-se pelos estilos de liderança da teoria de “Banda Larga”, verificou-se que é
no estilo de liderança transformacional que os comandantes mais se revêm, sem contudo
descurar o estilo transacional. E é nos comandantes transformacionais que melhor se
evidencia a forma como exercem a competência disciplinar.

To these military is legally allocated the disciplinary authority, which has its main materialization in rewards and punishments. Given these two concepts (leadership and disciplinary authority), this exploratory study, following a quantitative methodology aimed to address how they relate and evaluate how they interact. Having choose the theory of leadership styles of “Broadband”, it was found that it is in the transformational leadership style that commanders longer shall revise, but without bleaching the transactional style. And it is the transformational commanders that best shows how exercise disciplinary authority.
