Abstract(s)
Job satisfaction is one of the most studied topics in the field of Organizational Psychology. On an individual level it has an important impact on the general well-being of individuals and on their physical and mental health. At an organizational level, job satisfaction influences the productivity and consequently the performance of organizations. Being strongly related to indicators such as absenteeism or turnover rates. In this sense, although much studied, this is a very relevant topic and one that needs constant updating. Thus, this study aims to study which characteristics of work have the greatest impact on the satisfaction of workers in an Angolan company. In theoretical terms, this research is based on the Work Characterization Model proposed by Halkman and Oldham (1976, 1980). To assess the workers' assessment of the 5 dimensions of work provided for in the model, the Job Diagnostic Survey also proposed by the same authors Halkman and Oldham (1974) was used. Job satisfaction was measured using the Job Satisfaction Scale developed by Warr, Cook and Wall (1979). The on-line survey was attended by 55 workers, corresponding to 92% of the workers of a company that buys and sells agri-food products. The results indicate that both, perceived feedback, and autonomy, have a positive impact on employee’s job satisfaction. The same is not true for importance or any of the dimensions that compose it (skill variety, task identity and task significance). These results may be explained by the nature of the organization's activities.
